Naming Our Helper

Knowing the "WHO" behind the title is the first step in building a solid foundational relationship.

When we need help, we look to those close to us and around us.   Sometimes the “TITLE” catches our attention, but we overlook what is most important…

Defined by a Title

  • Mentor: a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.
  • Adviser: one who gives advice
  • Coach: to give instruction or advice to in the capacity of a coach; instruct:
  • Counselor: a person who advises others on personal problems or life choices
  • Guide: to assist  in traveling through, to a destination or giving directions to a person:
  • Teacher:  a person who teaches or instructs, as one knowledgeable.
  • Instructor: a person who instructs to teach.
  • Trainer: a person that trains or coaches

NO the "TITLE" is not Most Important

The first and hardest step is overcoming ourselves.  Shame, hurt, pride, and despair stop us from reaching out to someone in our time of need.

When we finally seek help,  we are overwhelmed with so many titles, programs, opinions, books, internet articles, how does a person choose?

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,…”   Jas 1:5

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”   Mat 6:33

From the Christian Biblical View

We are wise to give less care to “Titles” and far more importance to God’s direction when we are seeking help.

God and Christian Biblical Counseling

Unlike secular counseling,  that often follows psychology and cultural behaviors,  Biblical counseling seeks to build on the foundational truth of God and His Promises for lasting changes.

WHY not do as the world does?

God’s word and His Spirit are alive and able to deal with what that was, what that is and that which is yet to come.

It is not the person, the degrees or titles we need to put our faith in.    It is the Holy Spirit working through them to be a mentor, a coach, a counselor or whatever is needed in God’s timing to help you.

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”  Jer 29:13

"I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever." Joh 14:16
