I need help... now what ?
We all come to a time in our lives where we get off track, fall or are overcome by storms and circumstances. When this happens, we find that things seem beyond our abilities and control. We need help, direction, and counsel.
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. Pro 11:14
Need to: seek counsel
The scripture reminds and guides us to seek counsel or we fall. It encourages us to seek a “Multitude” of counsellors for safety
This is NOT telling us to find many opinions that match our desired outcome. But it is warning us that it is not safe or wise to act on one impulse, emotion, or opinion. We indeed need counsel, and it needs to be “WISE” counsel.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
Need for: Christian Biblical Counsel
Wait a moment, we are to get counsel from God and yet the scripture quotes multitude of counselors… isn’t contrary?
When we are living a God centered, Christ centered life in line with his word and promises, we FIRST go to the foundation of truth. Godly wisdom, instruction, teaching and direction is what we must FIRST seek… the kingdom wisdom.
Now that we know the truth and we are free to ask of many counselors. Why? We are now able to receive from the counselor that is in line with God’s word and able to cast down counsel that is not in God’s wisdom.
Proverbs 11:14 might have been better stated.. in the multitude of “Christian Biblical” based counsellors, there is safety
YES – We all will have tribulation and troubles but we are not alone. We need to run “TO” God and seek His help and His wisdom. Whether you counsel or are being counseled, test what you hear against the truth found in the Word of God.
